Elijah's main style of music is jazz, as he brings a youthful revival to jazz standards from the 20s-60s. He brings his New Orleans and Parisian influence, mixes it with his New York-Puerto Rican roots, and combines them with his extensive knowledge of jazz singing to create a fusion that makes Elijah Hartman a one-of-a-kind performer. Elijah is a wonderfully talented vocalist and scat singer; and is heavily influenced by the bebop era of jazz and takes inspiration from Sarah Vaughan, Judy Garland, Tony Bennett, and Celia Cruz. Elijah has been studying jazz voice for 9 years now. He has studied under the best: Cyrille Aimée, Wessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson, Amina Scott, Banu Gibson, Meryl Zimmerman, Leah Chase, Dr. Gordon Towell, and many more. They have all worked with the lovely and talented Elijah Hartman and have all complimented his scatting, wide variety of song choices, the arrangments he puts together, his lyrical interpretations, his powerful voice that is a cross between Broadway Belter and Velvety Jazz Singer, and also his vast vocal range. Elijah Hartman has appeared numerous times with the Loyola University New Orleans Jazz Band at Jazz Fest, and has performed with his combo The “Elijah Hartman Jazz Combo” at many different venues across New Orleans such as Buffa's and The New Orleans National Historic Jazz Park and Museum, as well as accompanying Wessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson as one of his featured singers; they have both appeared together at the historic Ponchartrain Hotel in the “Bayou Bar” where many New Orleans, greats have played. Elijah Hartman has also appeared overseas in places such as the Jazz Ascona Festival in Ascona, Switzerland, The Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France, and an appearance at the iconic Sunset–Sunside Jazz Club in Paris, France. While Elijah has many inspirations, he has an extended repertoire he calls his own with his intentions of entertaining his audience in the now, not just copying the past. See Elijah Hartman as he flashes his audience back to a time when Black American music was at its peak and coming into its own, just like he does every single performance and day.
