Elijah's main style of music is jazz, as he brings a youthful revival to jazz standards from the 20s-60s. The multi-lingual sequin wearing singer is a rising star in the New Orleans jazz scene—an arranger, lyricist, and captivating performer who seamlessly blends his New York-Puerto Rican roots with the rich influences of New Orleans and Paris which offers a deep understanding of many genres, which crafts a unique sound that’s all his own, making every performance truly unforgettable. Elijah is a wonderfully talented vocalist and scat singer; and is heavily influenced by the bebop era of jazz and takes inspiration from Judy Garland, Tony Bennett, Donna Summer, and Celia Cruz. Throughout the years he has studied under the best: Cyrille Aimée, Wessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson, Amina Scott, Banu Gibson, Meryl Zimmerman, Leah Chase, Dr. Gordon Towell, and many more. They have all worked with the lovely and talented Elijah Hartman and have all complimented his scatting, wide variety of song choices, the arrangments he puts together, his lyrical interpretations, his powerful voice that is a cross between Broadway Belter and Velvety Jazz Singer, and also his vast vocal range. Elijah Hartman has appeared numerous times with the Loyola University New Orleans Jazz Band at Jazz Fest, and has performed with his combo, “Elijah Hartman and his Swingin' Friends” at many different venues across New Orleans such as Buffa's and The New Orleans National Historic Jazz Park and Museum, as well as accompanying Wessell “Warmdaddy” Anderson as one of his featured singers; they have both appeared together at the historic Ponchartrain Hotel in the “Bayou Bar” where many New Orleans, greats have played. Elijah Hartman has also appeared overseas in places such as the Jazz Ascona Festival in Ascona, Switzerland, The Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity in Cannes, France, an appearance at the iconic Sunset–Sunside Jazz Club in Paris, France, and has sang at the Keystone Club in Tokyo, Japan.. Elijah has many inspirations, he has an extended repertoire he calls his own. He doesn’t just echo the past; he brings jazz into the present, creating a connection with his audience that’s both nostalgic and new.
